Aggies Add 2 More to the W Category

By Austin Wall

On Saturday night the Aggies rolled into muggy San Marcos to face the Texas State Bobcats for a 7:00 pm face-off. Texas A&M was looking to keep their conference win streak alive in order to stay atop the LSA with the Texas Longhorns heading into their end of the year showdown.

The game started off with a flurry of Aggie goals. A&M finally seemed to find their offensive game that was once present early in the season. Will James gave the Aggies a big spark with a five goal quarter on the way to a big first quarter lead of 10-2. The second quarter appeared to be a whole different game. A&M turned from a mainly passing offence to a dodging one and was unable to find the net; turning the ball over after short possessions. The Bobcats on the other hand, seemed to find some inspiration, scoring five goals during the second quarter while holding the Aggies to one. At halftime the Aggies led by a score of 11-7.

The rest of the game was dominated by the Aggies. The defense posted a shutout in the third quarter and only allowed two goals in the fourth. The A&M offense was able to score seven more times to make the final score 18-9. The standout A&M attack unit delivered one of their best performances of the year, boasting the top three goal scorers: Will James with 6, Steve Bouchard with 4, and Billy Kettler with 2.

The following day, the Aggies were scheduled to play Tulane in College Station, but the game was forfeited by Tulane. This left the Aggies with a much needed day of rest on a short week where they will prepare to take down the Longhorns Friday night in Austin.
